I was asked about synopses/pairings for my favorite Shinhwa fanfics… I can’t remember much since I read them about 10 years ago, but I’ll try and see if I can. Most of the ones that I’ve suggested are the ones that I can remember liking, and most of those are all Minwoo-biased with the other Shinhwa members as supporting cast. Actually, Minwoo fanfics were a HUGE thing back then hahaha, that’s why the majority of these are about Minwoo. Anyways, hope you enjoy them. Tell me what you think of them! :) If you’re not satisfied with one, tell me why and I’ll try to steer you towards a better option. Here’s what I can remember…

FANFICS

• Memories – Minwoo is the CEO of a wealthy company and the leading character comes to work at his company. They end up starting a relationship with one another but must deal with the numerous obstacles of a commoner dating a social elitist. Things get complicated when past lovers and issues are brought into the mix. Genre: Romance. It was very well written (or.. at least I thought it was when I was a 7^th grader…). This is probably my all-time favorite.   ★ ★ ★ ★ ★

• Jaded – A troubled Korean-American girl is sent from the U.S. to live with her cousin Hwanhee in Korea. Through Hwanhee, she ends up meeting Shinhwa and soon they become a part of her life. With similar rebellious, tough attitudes, a mutual attraction sparks between the girl and Minwoo. The story follows the development of their relationship as well as the lead character’s relationship with the other Shinhwa members. Genre: Romantic comedy, very teenage-angst-ish… but also one of my personal favorites and an overall fanfic (not just Shinhwa) classic.  ★ ★ ★ ★ ★

• Cinderella but the glass slippers were never mine – Angel (lol… realized how corny this is 10 years later) has worked at a coffee shop with her friend Hyesung for quite some time. She has developed a crush on one of her regular customers, Minwoo. Over time, the two become friends and Minwoo often comes to her for advice about personal problems. He, however, does not have feelings for Angel. Through some unexpected circumstances, the two start a ‘fake relationship’ with one another. The situation is further complicated with other third parties who share feelings for Angel and Minwoo. Genre: Romance, more on the serious side. I remember crying A LOT when I read this.  ★ ★ ★ ★ ★

• Butt Out! – Leading character works for a magazine/newspaper/popular press company and comes up with the idea of an experiment to try and get the members of Shinhwa to stop smoking. Genre: Comedy. From what I remember, this might be rated mature. ★ ★ ★ ★

• War Letters – The leading character and Minwoo are in the same unit in the army during the Korean War. The story follows the development of their relationship as well as her friendship with the other members of her unit. Genre: War(?)/Friendship/Part comedy/Part Romance… From what I remember, it was less on the romantic side and more on the deeper side. It was different from all the other fanfics, that’s why I liked it. Not sure if you guys will.  ★ ★ ★ ★

• I’m a Bad Girl So Slap Me - Geesh, what a misleading title… haha. The story is about a girl who has a pretty rebellious/unladylike personality. Somehow she begins dating Andy, the innocent maknae in Shinhwa. The other members object their relationship because they find her unfit for Andy. Genre: Romantic comedy I thought this fanfic was okay…  ★ ★ ★

• Minwoo’s Daughter - This story revolves around a separated couple: Minwoo, Mary (?), and their daughter and how life is for the family after separation. It mainly follows Mary’s perspective and her interactions with Minwoo and Shinhwa. Genre: Romantic comedy/Family (?)  ★ ★ ★ ★ ★

The others, I can’t remember much about them but they were all good enough for me to remember their titles. These are probably all Minwoo too. I’ve also added in some that I’ve heard were really good but never got around to reading:

• What I Did For Love – My first ever fanfic and it’s probably the most well-known fanfic of the early 2000s out there. I enjoy reading it whenever I do. It’s pretty much a Kpop Cinderella story: you got your evil stepmom, hardworking main character, and prince charming
• It Was You All Along - Oh, I loved this one! haha don’t remember much but it was short and cute and about Sunghoon from Sechskies
